Chicago Blackhawks: Alexandre Fortin Signs Three-Year Deal

Fortin was impressive leads to a contract

On Sunday afternoon, the Chicago Blackhawks signed 19 years before Alexandre Fortin in a three-year contract.

Since joining the Blackhawks this summer for the prospect camp, NHL Rookie tournament, and Blackhawks training camp, Fortin has been very impressive.

After his first season with Rouyn-Noranda in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 2014-15, Fortin was drafted into the NHL draft for the first time. After his second year with Rouyn-Noranda last season, Fortin still went undrafted. In his two seasons in the QMJHL, Fortin skated in 121 games for Rouyn-Noranda, scoring 83 points (30 goals, 53 assists) and helping the Huskies to the QMJHL Championship last year.

Clearly, the Blackhawks would not let go Fortin summer, he set up and head to the QMJHL this season without a contract and head in the NHL draft this summer for the third time.

Given its performance with Chicago and the construction of his first two seasons with Rouyn-Noranda, it is almost a guarantee that Fortin would not have landed back with the Blackhawks in the project.

Blackhawks hope to capitalize on another free agency Find

After the success of Artemi Panarin last year, the Blackhawks began to find a way to discover the untapped potential in the players and make the best jump on the opportunities for these players in the organization.

“It is a bit of how Blackhawks,” said Hawks assistant coach Kevin Dineen. “Panarin was on the radar of people in the hockey world and certainly in Russia, but to bring a player like that last year and you see (in) the different sports you draft players at these different ages and for us, the development curve is really steep for these children. they are aged 18, they picked a large part of their potential. Sometimes it takes a player a little more time to develop. (Fortin ) certainly had a good performance here and I expect, with his character, he will continue to do so. ”
Clearly, the Blackhawks believe in the talent and potential of Fortin. His contract dictates that if he did not open list Blackhawks, which is very unlikely he will return to the QMJHL since he is not eligible to play in the AHL.

Fortin signing gives the Blackhawks another young talent to the advanced position that shows a ton of increase, and makes for some they and the rest of the league, would not miss another chance on him in the project.
